Early Childhood Education Violin & Cello class for children age 3 - 4 and their parent

NEW FOR 2010-2011!

SuzukiPortland & SuzukiLakeOswego present a combined Early Childhood Education Age 3-4 Violin and Cello Class together with a monthly Suzuki Parent Development Class.

In this exciting new violin & cello early childhood class, parents participate side-by-side with their budding violinist or cellist, then have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of Suzuki philosophy and process by participating in a monthly Parent Development Class. Social, emotional and musicial readiness skills are introduced first, then when the child is ready, individual violin and cello lessons combined with the group class begin.

The weekly ECE class will be co-taught by Catherine Whelan (violin/viola and Suzuki Early Childhood Education) and Dr. Valdine Mishkin (cello).

Catherine Whelan, a Suzuki Parent for 13 years and a Suzuki Early Childhood Educator, violist and violin & viola teacher will lead the parent class. Ms. Whelan brings a wealth of parenting ideas and a broad range of teaching experience that includes understanding set-up issues, healthy physical movement and parents working with their own children.

The ECE Violin & Cello class takes place Friday mornings from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. beginning Friday September 3, 2010. The Parent Development Class will meet once a month on Monday evenings beginning Monday September 27, 2010. (Children do not attend the parent class.)

Maximum enrollment 8 students (four violin/four cello).
